artist's statement

Val graduated with BA(Hons) - glass from Edinburgh College of Art and HND(public art) - metal from Edinburgh's Telford College. She has won awards such as "best work in glass at eca degree show" from the Scottish Glass Society and "student of the year" for artistic metalwork at ETC.

Regeneration and recycling of materials is high on her agenda. She continually experiments with technique to develop ways of bringing texture, movement, spontaneity and light into her work.

Val's work is mostly sculptural and abstract. It varies in size from small scale items of jewellery to large architectural pieces. Her work is exhibited throughout Scotland and she has work in many galleries.
